Q01 614 - The Sacraments Covenant between God and man

Wanting to weave a dialogue with men to make them share in his divine life, God reveals himself to man and manifests him in time his plan of salvation through sensitive signs, words and events intimately connected. This admirable condescension of God towards man reaches its fullness in Christ. The sacraments are therefore the signs of the new covenant, the strong moments of the encounter, dialogue and communion that God realizes with men, by the power of the Spirit, in Christ Jesus. Words and salvific gestures made by Christ in the days of his earthly life and delivered to the Church Bride, its extension in time, so that he repeats them in his memory until he will come in glory.
