The Vatican Crux, which is reproduced in embroidery, is the oldest relic of the "treasure" of Saint Peter, kept in the Vatican. Reliquary in gilded silver and precious stones, the Vatican Crux dates back to the second half of the sixth century: it was sent as a gift, probably as an ex-voto, by Justin II, Emperor of the East (563-578).
