"The Church is the farm or the field of God (cf 1 Cor 3:9). In that field grows the ancient olive tree, whose holy root were the patriarchs and in which the reconciliation of the Jews and the Gentiles took place (cf.Rom 11:13-26). It was planted by the heavenly farmer as the chosen vineyard (Mt 21,33-43 par; cf Is 5,1ss). Christ is the true vine, which gives life and fecundates to the branches, that is to us, who through the Church remain in him, and without him we can do nothing (cf Jn 15:1-5)" (Lumen Gentium 6).
