R03 30-16 - Catacomb lamp

The shape and decoration is inspired by the various models of oil lamps found in the catacombs both in the city of Albano and Rome. Decorative elements: The CHRISMON or MONOGRAMATA CROSS enclosed within a circle that some scholars interpret as the cosmic wheel, synthesis of the created universe. THE LAUREL BRANCHES, a sign of worship, surround the upper part of the lamp. The DOVES, symbol of the soul that aspires to eternal bliss. The olive branches, held by the doves, sign of peace. The halide of the lamp is liquid wax.
