In the ancient mosaic of the Roman basilica of San Clemente, one can observe the luxuriant flowering of an acanthus bush, from which the numerous sunflowers spread out in all directions, with their flowers and fruits. The vitality of this plant is given by the cross of Jesus, whose sacrifice constitutes the re-creation of humanity and the cosmos. Jesus is the new Adam who, with the mystery of his passion, death and resurrection, makes humanity flourish, reconciling it with the Father.
