The diversity of tasks in the liturgical celebration is shown outwardly by the diversity of the sacred vestments. The vestments common to ordained and instituted ministers of any rank is the alb, worn, if necessary, with the amice and the cincture (GIRM no.335 and no.336). In the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (no.337 and no.338) we can also read: “The vestment proper to the Priest celebrant at Mass and other sacred actions directly connected with Mass unless otherwise indicated, is the chasuble, worn over the alb and stole.” And “The vestment proper to the deacon is the dalmatic, worn over the alb and stole.” Other vestments are the cope and the surplice. 

There are also the altar cloth and Mass linens such as: the corporal, purificator, lavabo towel and pall.
